Privacy Policy
Video Game Name Generator, by Bustout Games. This policy covers the iOS and Android app.
Last updated: 3 September 2026
The app collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no servers.
There is no account to create, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no
third-party SDK gathering anything about you. The app makes no network requests at all — on
Android it does not even request the INTERNET permission, so it is not technically
capable of sending your data anywhere.
Everything below is detail on that.
What the app stores, and where
All of it stays on your device, in the app's own private storage. None of it is transmitted.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your settings — theme, family filter, sound, haptics, animation level, timer lengths | So the app opens the way you left it |
| Your favourites | The list you star |
| Your history — the most recent 500 names generated | So you can find a name again |
| Counters — names generated, favourites saved, current and best streak | The stats screen |
| Your first generated name, and your longest | Shown on the stats screen |
| The date you last viewed the Name of the Day | To count your streak |
The only "personal" data in that list is whatever you can infer from which joke game names you
liked. There is no name, email address, phone number, contact list, location, photo library
access, advertising identifier, or device fingerprint. On Android the app requests a single
permission, VIBRATE, purely so the reels can click as they stop; it grants no access
to anything about you. It asks for nothing else, on either platform.
Images you share
When you share a name as box art, the image is rendered on your device and written to the app's temporary cache, then handed to your operating system's standard share sheet. The app keeps only the 20 most recent and deletes the rest.
Where the image goes after that is entirely your choice, and is governed by whichever app you share it into — that app's privacy policy applies, not this one.
Backups
On Android, the app allows Android's standard automatic backup. If you have device backup enabled in your Google account settings, your favourites, history and settings may be included, so that they survive moving to a new phone. That backup is between you and Google under Google's privacy policy; Bustout Games has no access to it and receives nothing from it.
On iOS, app data is included in your iCloud or local device backup under Apple's terms in the same way, again with no access or involvement from us.
You can turn device backup off in your operating system's settings.
Ratings prompts
The app may occasionally ask you to rate it. This uses Apple's
SKStoreReviewController and Google Play's In-App Review — the ratings prompt built
into each platform. The decision about when to ask is made entirely on your device from
local counters; no data about you is sent to us by that feature. Whatever you then write in a
review is between you and the app store.
Children
The app is a novelty name generator, not directed at children, and is age-rated accordingly in each store. It contains a Family Filter, on by default, which excludes words tagged for adults. The app collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the updated version is published here.
